The ChiefConetahledrawsthe attentionof all m bers of the Force
to Section 14(7) of the Police Pensions Act, 1921, whi.ch reads as follows :-
"Ev y grant which is a pension o allowance shall be paid,
afterthe firstinstalment,in advance,exceptin the case
of refusalto quitpolicequartersor any praises owned
or rentedby or on behalfof the policeauthorityor the
Receiverfor the MetropolitanPoliceDistrict,or to give
up any equipment,or to make any paymentdue to thepolice
authorityor the Receiver;but, wherea persondieswhilst
in receiptof a grantpaid i.nadva ce,no returnshallbe
requiredof any paymentswhichhave beea made in respect
of any periodafterhis death''.
also to en extractof ResolutionNo. 8 of the minute'sof the
meetingof the StandingJoiatCommitteeheld on st Apri1,1945, dealing
with the grantingof pensions:-
°....snbjectto possessionbeinggivenof any houseoccupiedli.
In consequenc&of the aboveit l be c1earlyunderstoodthat
beforeany Constableoan receivehis pensioa,possessionof the househe
occupies,whetherownedby him or not, must be givenif the ChiefConstable
so directs.
