Mansions,closerliaisonis indicatedbetweenthe 1oca1Policeendthe

Ia orderto try and qreatethisliaisonthe ChiefConstable
wishesthe Superintendentto visitthe ownersof a11 largemansionsin
his Divisionandhave a personalintervie itthhem,pointingoutthat
"LadderBurglaries"alwayshappeneitherwhen the CountryMansionia
filledwith gueste, whenthereia a huntba11,racemeetingor ather
aocialfunctionto whichthe ownerof themansionis kwwn to be 1ikely
to attend. Thoseburglariestake placebetween7.30.pm.and 9.30.pm.
If the awnerwi11 informthe Superintendenwthen aucha oontiagencays
outlinedaboveishappening,the Suparintendenwti11ba ab1eto give
that Country Ga o specialprotection.
It is lmportantthatnot onlyladderaon the premisesare
padlockedor secured,but that ladderaon neighbauringfarmsare also
safeguarded, thieshouldbe impressedon the ownerof the maneionwho
in many caseawi11 awnthe farm.
The1oca1Constableehouldalwaysknaw;when an ovmerof a
largeCountryMannionis entertaininga housepartyor is goingto attand
a we11 advartisedHunt Ba11,and shouldinformhis Sergeantao that
apecial upe i ioncan be givento the Mansion.
The Sergeantshouldalwaysbe familiarwithwhat ia happening
in his command,so thattpursof dutycaabe alteredto ensurethat
Mansionsare supervisedwhen they are particularly vulnerable.
It is onlyby intelligentanticipation by the 1oca1Constable,
the Sergeaatandthe Superintendent thatwe canhopeto preventthis
claeaof orimeanfloapturethe criminals.
In additionto the aboveprecautions whenevertha Manchester
or.Liverpoolracemeetingsare on, or any 1oca1pointto pointor
racemeeting,the Inspectorin chargeo£ MotorPatrolswi11 arrange
for specialsupervision by the patrolcars,to includethe daybeîore
the meetingandthe day afteror if needbe the weekendaftersuch
meeting.
